We are not always aware of the detail, delicacy and determination of the plants around us.  From a human perspective our interest in plants might develop through the food we eat or our appreciation for the beauty they bring. Learn a little more and we might understand that the very air we breathe is coming from plants as they photosynthesize to make food.  Become more aware and we can learn to know what plants contribute to each other and the ecology of a landscape. We can learn to read a landscape understanding plants as we understand letters and words. This site intends to explore the detail of plant life in the Texas hill country, and beyond, highlighting the beauty and biology of common and uncommon species.  The goal is to increase awareness and complexity of knowledge around plants, what they bring to natural and cultivated plant communities and what we appreciate about them.
